In muted versions of the three primary colours (and also navy and tan), the Francoise tote remains my favourite of the collection and I adore the thick, butter soft leather.

How to: burgundy

It's not exactly breaking news that boozy colours are the colour this season, be it Bordeaux, Claret, Burgundy or Merlot. Here, L'Anglaise takes a look at how to wear burgundy and finds that it goes with a lot more than expected. The good thing about this colour is that it looks good in every item: bags, tops, bottoms, shoes, coats. It is very versatile, going with most colours and is flattering to most skin tones and shapes. 


And even better still...inject a bit of colour with a mustard jumper.

Whistles: Trunk Show and Champagne Lunch at The Savoy

Whistles showcases their A/W 2011 collection at the Savoy. Jane Shepherdson, CEO of Whistles, was there for the show and looks amazing in a Whistles blazer. 

Wow, what a long way Whistles has come since Jane took over in 2008.

Like Zara, Whistles seem to have gone for lots of fluorescent teamed with neutrals, however they emphasise the skirt and wide trouser as opposed to Zara's skinnies and 7/8ths. Whistles are also offering a vast amount of pleats, enough to keep me happy! The hunt for the best pleated skirt stops here! Although I'm not sure if this collection looks a bit frumpy, it would need some strong styling and less of the long cardigans to look really 'now'.

One thing that unites both collections is a gorgeous pointy low kitten heel, which give the outfit a very Parisian, Left Bank feel.
